On Thursday, April 23rd, NDN host a press conference with U.S. Rep. John Larson, Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus on Capitol Hill.  Congressman Larson will introduce legislation to provide free computer training through the nation's community colleges so that workers can improve their IT skills and become more competitive during these tough economic times.

NDN proposed this groundbreaking plan in 2007, Dr. Rob Shapiro, Chair of NDN's Globalization Initiative, who wrote the report entitled Tapping the Resources of America's Community Colleges: A Modest Proposal to Provide Universal Access to Computer Training will be speaking at the press conference along with Rep. Larson.

President Barack Obama went on to endorse NDN's plan as part of his platform during his campaign.  Congressman Larson's Community College Technology Access Act of 2009 would provide funding to community colleges that provide technology training and open their computer labs to the public.
