Our Family stories are sadly not documented precisely, but apparently, as a child, my Maternal Grandmother was literally put on a boat to flee Cuba by her parents, leaving family and siblings behind for New York City in the Post WWI/Grobart/Machado period.
To my knowledge, she never saw or communicated with any of them again.
My Paternal Grandfather's family is originally from Spain, but he was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and also moved to NYC in the 1920's or so...
Grandma married a Virginian Farmer, and Grandpa married a first genertion Czech-American...their children, my parents, were born and raised in New York City, where they met and married....
Our family has proudly served in the Armed Services since the American Revolution (indeed, my sister is a DAR), and we lost an Uncle KIA in a Submarine during WW II. We have a number of family members buried in Arlington National Cemetary.
But none of that makes me more qualified to comment on politics or anything else.(except the pride of being an American, a New York Son, a Connecticut Boy At Heart, & A Yankee Fan) than the other 300+ million Americans...
Maybe less so, in some ways...
But I just like and admire part of NDN's mission to recognize the importance of the Internet for the World's benefit (information = Freedom, in my book), our changing demographics, and the seriousness of the challenges facing our great Naton.
Hope I'm welcome here,
George
